This was without doubt one of the toughest stalks of my career as a professional hunter. At one point, I seriously doubted we would have the strength to get out of that brutal ravine.
Rain, wind, and snow, moving across extremely steep terrain with rocks and thick scrub, with no paths at all.
After three exhausting hours, we had a single shooting chance at 257 meters, which Bo took perfectly.
Reaching the animal and getting out was even harder. Five hours later, after a dangerous descent, a river crossing, and a brutal climb back up — sometimes on all fours — we finally reached the vehicles.
Congratulations, Bo, on this magnificent Cantabrian chamois, a well-deserved gold medal trophy.
